The Health Establishment of the Druze Community is a private, non-profit organization , and was granted the qualification of public benefit (notification No.133/AD, Decree No.4021). Located in the Chouf region, Mount Lebanon, at 40 km from Beirut and 45 km from Saida, the Establishment's original role was to fulfill the needs of a region deprived and destroyed by the war. The hospital caters to people far beyond the geographical boundaries of the Chouf with services extending to the regions of Aley, El Metn, Iklim, Jezzine, Rashaya, Hasbaya and the Beqaa valley, thus handling about 500,000 people.
The Establishment also houses The Elderly Care Center which 75 elderly residents, and a waiting list of about 150. Because of the long waiting list of potential residents, the Establishment has plans to expand the center to accommodate 300 residents. In this scope, the foundation stone of the new Elderly Care Center was laid on September 2004.
Ain Wazein Hospital ( AWH ) aims to offer high quality services at the lowest possible cost (94 % of our patients are on the account of governmental guarantors). The technical infrastructure available allows us to offer a wide range of high quality services in imaging, laboratory tests , surgeries , intensive care, and emergency care.
Nowadays, about 140 physicians of all specialties form the senior health-care team, along with 110 nurses and a total of 325 employees are there to serve.
Parallel to this mission, Ain Wazein Hospital has been recognized as an academic and teaching center , and its scientific activities are given Continues Medical Education credits by the Lebanese Order of Physicians.
The Health Establishment houses also a nursing institute which is affiliated to the Ministry of Technical Education, where students graduating with a BP (Brevet Professional), BT (Baccalauréat technique) or
TS (Technical Superior).
