»The Geriatric Medical Center is being built on a 10,000 square meter piece of land. This land is located south of Ain Wazein Hospital.
»The center is composed of 150 patients' rooms that are divided into 18 first class suites and 132 double rooms, in addition to clinics, therapy areas and offices. Fifty rooms at the garden level are directly accessible to beautifully landscaped grounds
»The building is designed as four large square blocks with pitched tiled roofs similar to those found in traditional Lebanese houses. These blocks are arranged as two symmetrical wings connected by a central block.
»Each wing is composed of two square blocks joined by a smaller one that contains the nursing station and its facilities.
»The construction surface will span 17,000m2 built on four floors. Each floor is approximately 4,000 m2. The ground floor, first floor, and garden floors will house 50 patients' rooms each, in addition to a basement service area.
-The main entrance, cafeteria, and outpatients clinics are on the Ground Floor.
-A state of the art conference center, cultural center and administration offices will be located on the first floor.
-The adult day care center, GYM and physical therapy rooms will be located on the garden floor
»Circulation between rooms is arranged around interior patios of 200 m2 on each floor providing natural lighting and views of in-house gardens.
»The majority of resident rooms face South overlooking the landscaped gardens of 4,000 m2 and a large natural park belonging to the Maronite Church.
»Parking facility for 80 cars
»A service corridor will link the center to Ain Wazein Hospital.
»The building is designed to be environmental friendly and to conserve energy and will feature double exterior walls with insulation in between, plus insulation under basement tiling and under roof tiling. All openings have double glazing. Green house effect will be minimized through the use of Solar energy.
»The Geriatric Medical Center is provided with air conditioners and heaters.
»Cost of building is estimated to be twelve million US dollars. Construction is being executed in two phases. During the first phase 10,000m2 will be constructed and 7,000 m2 will be completed during the second phase. The first phase of construction has already started.
